| So let's switch things up a bit on this board. Rather than talking about recent movies, what are your favorite movies? For me, it really depends on the mood I'm in, but I would say my favorite movie is "The Princess Bride". It just has everything! I also love "The Last Samurai", "Monty Python and the Holy Grail", and plenty of others that aren't coming to mind at the moment. |

| I have no idea what The Princess Bride is, but I've heard it mentionned from time to time. Care to fill me in? The Last Samurai was nice, though not one of my favorites. And Eol has been trying to get me to watch the Monthy Python one for months now Me... well. Depends. In the old movies category, the ones I loved as a child and still love at present, I would go with Cleopatra (the one with Liz Taylor, that cost an insane amount of money... nothing to be proud of to be sure, but the end result is magnificent) and Gone with the Wind (I guess that's the romantic in me ? ). For more recent movies... I loved Matrix Reloaded, it was just so incredibly impressive graphically. And the rhythm! I love it when movies just kind of take you away and do not let go until the end. I like to be dazzled, to be left breathless and unable to say anything else but "whoah" by the staff roll. Of course, the music plays a huge part in achieving that effect, so thumbs up for that too. In the same vein, but completely different, was Moulin Rouge. It did leave me breathless. Music and visuals just swept me off my feet till the end, and I liked the mix of mad humor and vibrant tragedy. A brilliant movie. I also liked Forrest Gump and Amelie (a French movie that one, the original title is "Le fabuleux destin d'Amélie Poulain"). They are far more gentle, tender movies. They concentrate on the small but essential things in life... there's a lot of humor within, but they mostly make you smile of happiness. Both are very touching, and I think many people should keep them in mind. They speak truth. _________________ Et toi, que vas-tu faire pour sauver la planète ?

| Yeah Monthy Python rules!! I liked the Last Samourai very much too. And I loved "La vie est belle" by Roberto Begnini, "Amelie" and "Forrest Gump" too. One of my favorites is "The untouchables", and "The Lord of the Rings", especially The Fellowship of The ring and The Return of the King (not sure about this title :p ) _________________ If you see something darker than my heart, it is my soul...

| I love Sissi's Trilogy, it's a trilogy that I saw again and again with my grand-mother Romy Schneider is so perfect in it !!! : I love Moulin Rouge too and "Les choristes". It's a french film with Gerard Jugnot and the end is so beautiful !! It makes me cry I like a Knight's Tale, and Shrek 2 because it's fun |

| I really liked Moulin Rouge, too. It was really different than other movies. Plus the music was great! And I'm glad someone agrees with me about Monty Python! You got the right titles for the Lord of the Rings movies. Those are great! I want to see the extended versions sometime. I've never seen Amelie, but I've heard it's really good. I have listened to some of the music, and that was really good. The Princess Bride is a great movie! It has a medieval/fantasy feel to it. I think one of the reasons that I like it is that it has everything - sword fighting, romance, humor, etc. It's just great! You should all watch it sometime! |

| Well, I'll try to find it sometime Concerning The Lord of the Rings movies, I've got the DVDs... and thus, the extended versions. I have to say they make the trilogy all the more worthwhile, it's better than the shorter cuts! Gives it more depth. More recently, two other movies left me impressed: The Butterfly Effect, and Minority Report. Both have a bit of a thriller feel to them, and are really neat storywise. Great acting, great concept, and beautifully filmed. _________________ Et toi, que vas-tu faire pour sauver la planète ?

| It was one of the coolest movies I've ever seen. Really, it's flawless I believe. How much you like it is a matter of preference, but objectively speaking it's just so damn good! Anyway, I've watched Magnolia last night. Do you know this movie? It's kinda incredible, I had to think about it for a while to make up my mind about it! It goes from dying people and vibrant heartaches to Tom Cruise as a sex guru and frogs raining down the heavens. Now THAT's a crazy movie _________________ Et toi, que vas-tu faire pour sauver la planète ?

| Well, there's no proper storyline (by that I mean there's no definite quest & purpose like "destroy the fucking Ring, hobbit!" ). It's about various people going through critical stages of their lives (there's the cocaine addict who meets a policeman who falls in love with her, the wife who has to deal with the death of her husband, his long lost son who has to do the same, an ex genius kid now searching for his place in life, etc), and their existence intertwine in some more or less important ways. You'll get to see how they all deal with these things, and how happenstance can help. Anyway, apart from that, I watched The Usual Suspects last night. What the hell? Isn't that a huge classic? Because it bored to me death! I thought the characters were very unlikable, the storyline convoluted but pretty uninteresting, the mystery ("who is Keyser Soze") and its final twist artificial... and well, I just plain never cared about anything in the movie _________________ Et toi, que vas-tu faire pour sauver la planète ?

| I usually go to movies or watch TV, so I've never heard of or seen a lot of shows... including the Usual Suspects. Sorry! I'm a horrible English-speaking friend! Magnolia sounds interesting, though. Maybe I'll watch it sometime. I did watch the movie Shall We Dance (the American version) the other night. I wasn't expecting it to be that great, but I actually liked it. I've seen the Japanese version, and I really liked that, but this one wasn't bad. If you have the choice, see the Japanese one, but the American one was cute, too. |

| Oh, don't worry about it. I'm actually pretty lame when it comes to knowing movies But I'm trying to get better, so I watch movies both old & new regularly these days! What's Shall We Dance about? _________________ Et toi, que vas-tu faire pour sauver la planète ?

| It's about a businessman who isn't satisfied with his life so he ends up secretly taking dance lessons. In Japan, that is something that men just don't do, so it's a big deal in their culture. They had to change that part for the American storyline because it's more accepted here. And I'm glad to hear I'm not the only who never watches movies! |
